Absolutely terrible light, especially for the price. Right from the get go, the fan filter doesn’t fit properly and leaves a gap. The AI branded gooseneck screws in so close to the wiring it starts squeezing it when fitting and pulling back the heatshrink tubing they’ve used. The QR code in the gooseneck manual goes to a dead URL. This is all before I even started it up.
There’s no WiFi, only bluetooth meaning it can only be controlled locally. The app is not great, the light is not particularly bright and doesn’t even have the spread for a 2 foot tank, but the worst bit is the fan, it’s unbearably noisy. I have a radion that generates triple the heat and it is far quieter.
Found some solutions online after doing some research but unfortunately the app no longer lets you turn the fan down below 80% (probably because of the melting lens issues), which is still too loud, I’ve tried keeping the LEDs below 80% power and still no luck. So I’ve pulled it apart to apply some thermal compound on the heatsink as recommended on some of the forums. And found at the factory they’ve screwed the housing into the negative wire and crushed it, leaving the wiring flattened and almost broken. Luckily I’ve discovered this, as there’s a chance this could have become a fire hazard (far greater resistance in the wire). So now I also get to replace some of the wiring on a $400 LED light.
